Capitol Visitors Center
Washington D.C.
Architect: RTKL Associates, Inc.
More than 3 million people a year will walk on approximately 100,000 square feet of Valders Stone & Marble floor tile when visiting the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. The architect for the Capitol Visitors Center (CVC) specified ASTM Type III Buff Dolomitic limestone with a honed finish because of Valders material’s superior abrasion resistance to foot traffic wear and its aesthetic qualities. Valders Stone & Marble also supplied patterned paving for the CVC Gift Shop, high polished profiled wall base, and multiple truck loads of 6” thick lugged steps for the Grand Stairs. In total; 54 truck loads, or approximately 1,290 tons of material were supplied for this project.
I've been in the architectural stone business for almost 30 years, and for me Eden-Valders Stone is the product and service standard.
